Equanimity Arts

Artist-Run Creative & Therapeutic Practice in Sydney

Equanimity Arts™ (EqA) is a Sydney-based artist-run creative and therapeutic practice founded by installation artist and Creative & Experiential Therapist Madeline Fountain, and artist, arts educator and registered art therapist Nicola Black.

We design immersive art environments, deliver group creative therapy programs and develop research-informed wellbeing initiatives that support regulation, insight and relational connection.

WHO WE ARE

Equanimity Arts operates at the intersection of contemporary art, creative expression and evidence-informed therapeutic practice.

As practising artists and registered therapeutic practitioners, we bring together:

  • Installation and visual arts practice

  • Creative and expressive therapies

  • Trauma-informed group facilitation

  • Organisational and community engagement

  • Ethical governance and professional standards

Our work reflects a belief that creativity is not ornamental — it is a core human capacity for meaning-making, emotional regulation and connection.

OUR APPROACH

AN ECOLOGY OF CARE

Our approach is both artistic and clinically informed.

As artists, we understand the transformative power of material, space, light, sound and image.

As therapists, we prioritise safety, consent, reflective practice and evidence-informed frameworks.

We design environments and programs that support:

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Emotional literacy

  • Relational capacity

  • Reflective insight

  • Agency and resilience

We work intentionally and collaboratively, creating conditions where expression can emerge without pressure and shared experience can foster meaningful change.
